Kwara State and the wider Yoruba community are in mourning as the Sultonul Wahizeen of Yorubaland, Sheikh Dr. Muhydeen Ajani Bello, has passed away. The devastating news was confirmed on Friday morning by Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeeq in an emotional Facebook post.
Sheikh Akewugbagold described the loss as one of the saddest days of his life, expressing heartfelt grief over the demise of his father figure and mentor.
“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh Muhyideen AJANI BELLO, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah Fridaos for you. Our heart is full of grief, and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator, the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH,” the post read.
Sheikh Dr. Muhydeen Ajani Bello, widely known for his wisdom, humility, and powerful sermons, was a beacon of Islamic knowledge and spirituality across Yorubaland and beyond. His contributions to the faith and his role in mentoring countless scholars and followers will remain etched in the hearts of many.
The Muslim community has been urged to pray for the repose of his soul and continue his legacy of devotion to Allah and service to humanity.
