The Kwara State Ministry of Finance has clarified the reasons behind delays in the payment of November salaries and bonuses for some workers, emphasizing the importance of compliance with the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency (KWSRRA) directive.
While many workers across the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) have received their November payments, others are still being credited.
However, workers who have not yet completed their KWSRRA registration remain ineligible for disbursement, as stipulated in a prior directive issued on November 11.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 2, by Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, urged affected workers to resolve their registration issues by visiting the nearest KWSRRA office.
“The state government has since started disbursing the salary for the month of November, and many workers have received their payments across MDAs. The bonus will follow shortly after, as before,” Dr. Nuru stated.
“Being the first time since KWSRRA registration was implemented, disbursement is done in batches as the government updates and integrates the biometric data of each worker into the payroll.
This process is vital to ensuring data-driven planning, resource allocation, payroll integrity, and enhanced public accountability.”
The commissioner reiterated that unregistered workers need to comply promptly for seamless salary disbursement. “State workers who do not see their payments may need to visit the nearest KWSRRA office for registration. This step is in the collective interest of the workforce.”
According to the statement, local government workers and SUBEB teachers are being paid following the same KWSRRA clearance process.
The government highlighted that the registration drive, open for over six months, aligns with efforts to promote accountability and improve service delivery across the state.
Reassuring the public of the administration’s commitment to timely salary payments, the statement praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s track record of prompt payment and financial transparency.
This development underscores the state government’s emphasis on efficient governance and data-driven reforms, signaling a stronger focus on accountability and public service delivery.
