In a landmark event held at the Banquet Hall opposite Government House, GRA, Ilorin, the Kwara State Government officially flagged off two significant initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and empowering women across the state.
The event, organized through the Kwara Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), saw the distribution of 193 motorcycles to agricultural extension agents and 3,000 energy-saving cooking stoves to women.
These initiatives align with the state’s commitment to fostering resilience and sustainability in its agricultural and environmental sectors.
The Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. John Bello, who delivered the Governor’s remarks.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Bello highlighted the critical role of the distributed motorcycles in enhancing agricultural outreach and extension services, enabling agents to reach rural farmers efficiently.
He also emphasized the importance of the energy-saving stoves, which aim to improve women’s livelihoods while promoting environmentally friendly cooking practices.
“This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainable agriculture and the empowerment of our women,” Hon. Bello said, adding that the state government remains dedicated to improving the lives of its citizens through forward-thinking policies and programs.
