With the local government elections in Kwara State set for Saturday, September 21, 2024, the state police have announced a restriction on vehicle movement to ensure a smooth voting process.
In a statement on Friday, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, said that movement will be restricted from 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM on election day.
The restriction aims to enhance security during the election. However, there will be exceptions for those involved in essential services, accredited electoral officers, authorized media personnel, election observers, and emergency workers.
Armed security officers assigned to VIPs will not be allowed to escort their principals to the polling stations.
Residents are advised to follow the directive, as those who violate it will face legal action.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured the public that the police are fully committed to ensuring a safe, fair, and peaceful election in all parts of Kwara State.
