Senator Saliu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central in the National Assembly, expressed strong confidence on Saturday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the local government elections taking place across all 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
He believes that an APC victory will boost the efforts of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration, enabling it to continue delivering benefits to the people.
After casting his vote at Ode-Kolawole polling booth 005 in Gambari Ward One, Ilorin East Local Government Area, Senator Mustapha spoke to journalists about his optimism.
He highlighted that the governor’s solid performance should reflect positively at the local government level and encouraged those vying for chairmanship positions not to lower their standards.
Mustapha praised the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) for ensuring peaceful elections throughout the state.
As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, he noted that the elections had fostered a cordial environment for the electoral process.
“I want to thank the people and commend both the state government and KWSIEC for their efforts in creating a peaceful atmosphere for these local government elections,” he said.
He observed a calm and friendly voting process in his neighbourhood, expressing hope for a successful outcome for the APC.
“With a victory, we can continue the great work of the APC under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has recently been honoured as the Sardauna of Ilorin. This will help ensure that the benefits of democracy reach everyone.”
Senator Mustapha emphasized that local government elections are deeply connected to the state government’s performance, as elected officials will help implement the governor’s vision.
“I want to thank everyone in this community. We’ve experienced a peaceful and cordial election process. Remember, serving in these positions is a call to serve the people,” he added.
Regarding minor issues at some polling booths, he acknowledged, “There are always some complaints during elections. But overall, I’m really impressed with how things have gone.”
